About Concession Parts

In the sportbike class, the “Eligible Parts for Competition List” and Concession Parts are essential primarily to equalize (balance) performance between motorcycles with different concepts, ensuring fair and high-quality competition.

The specific reasons are as follows:

1. Equalization of Performance (Application of Balancing Factors)
• To equalize the performance of the diverse motorcycles participating in the World Supersport Championship, a performance adjustment system (balancing factor) is applied.
• Engine concession parts are used as one of the means for this performance adjustment, along with torque limit maps and minimum weight regulations.

2. Clarification and Fixation of Specifications Throughout the Season
• The specifications of each machine and the agreed-upon engine concession parts are determined between the manufacturer and the FIM SBK Technical Director and documented in the “Eligible Parts for Competition List.”
• The specifications listed here take precedence over regular technical regulations and serve as the standard for fixing specifications throughout the season.

3. Improvement of Safety, R&D, and Competitiveness
• Permitting the modification or replacement of certain parts within the technical regulations via the list aims to ensure safety, promote research and development (R&D), and provide the freedom to improve competition among various motorcycle concepts.
